TB to GB Converter

Convert terabytes (TB) to gigabytes (GB) as you type — 1 TB = 1,000 GB. Switch units, change the precision or copy the result.

How to use this tool

Steps for using the Unit Converter.

  1. Enter a value in From — terabytes are already selected.
  2. The result in gigabytes appears instantly. Change either unit to convert to anything else in data storage.
  3. Use the swap button for the reverse conversion, and set the decimal places you need.
  4. Turn on Show formula to see the calculation, then copy or share the result.

Example

How to convert terabytes to gigabytes

Hard drives and SSDs are sold in decimal terabytes: a “2 TB” drive holds 2,000 GB, which Windows displays as about 1.82 TB because it counts in TiB.

To convert terabytes to gigabytes, use GB = TB × 1000. One terabyte equals 1,000 gigabytes, and one gigabyte equals 0.001 terabytes.

Terabyte (TB): 10¹² bytes. Gigabyte (GB): 10⁹ bytes.

All digital information units are on the data storage converter.

Limitations

  • Results are rounded to the decimal places you choose; the calculation itself keeps full precision.

Frequently asked questions

How many gigabytes are in a terabyte?

1 TB = 1,000 GB. Multiply terabytes by 1000 (or use GB = TB × 1000).

How do I convert terabytes to gigabytes?

Use GB = TB × 1000. For example, 1 TB = 1,000 GB and 2 TB = 2,000 GB.

Is 1 GB 1,000 MB or 1,024 MB?

In SI units 1 GB = 1,000 MB. 1,024 is the binary relationship: 1 GiB = 1,024 MiB. Both are offered here, kept separate.

Why does my 1 TB drive show 931 GB?

The drive has 10¹² bytes; Windows divides by 1024³ and labels the result “GB”, giving 931 (really GiB).
