Flow Rate Converter

Convert m³/s, m³/h, L/s, L/min, US GPM and CFM for pumps, plumbing and HVAC.

How to use this tool

Steps for using the Unit Converter.

  1. Type a number into From — liters per minute are preselected. Commas and scientific notation such as 2.5e3 are accepted.
  2. Pick the units to convert between; the result in US gallons per minute (or whichever unit you choose) updates as you type. Use the swap button to reverse the conversion.
  3. Set the decimal places, turn on Show formula to see the calculation, and copy or share the result.
  4. Below the converter, the table lists every volumetric flow rate unit with its exact definition, and the links open dedicated pages for the most common pairs.

Example

10 liters per minute to US gallons per minute

Value
10 L/min
Result
2.641721 gal/min (US)

Formula: gal/min (US) = L/min ÷ 3.785411784

Common use cases

  • Pump, shower and tap flow rates.
  • HVAC airflow in CFM and m³/h.
  • Irrigation and process engineering.

About volumetric flow rate units

Volumetric flow rate is volume per unit time. The SI unit is m³/s, but pumps, taps and HVAC use more practical units: liters per minute, cubic meters per hour, US gallons per minute (GPM) and cubic feet per minute (CFM) for air.

Limitations

  • Results are rounded for display only; the calculation keeps full precision (15 significant digits).

Frequently asked questions

How many L/min is 1 GPM?

1 US gallon per minute ≈ 3.785 L/min.

How do I convert CFM to m³/h?

Multiply by about 1.699: 100 CFM ≈ 169.9 m³/h.

Is GPM US or UK gallons?

This converter uses US gallons per minute, the usual meaning of GPM.

Are these volumetric flow rate conversions exact?

Each unit is defined from its official definition (for example 1 inch = 2.54 cm exactly). Results are calculated in double precision and only rounded to the decimal places you choose when shown.
