Electric Charge Converter

Convert C, mC, µC, Ah and mAh. Battery capacity in mAh measures charge; Wh measures energy.

How to use this tool

Steps for using the Unit Converter.

  1. Type a number into From — milliampere-hours are preselected. Commas and scientific notation such as 2.5e3 are accepted.
  2. Pick the units to convert between; the result in coulombs (or whichever unit you choose) updates as you type. Use the swap button to reverse the conversion.
  3. Set the decimal places, turn on Show formula to see the calculation, and copy or share the result.
  4. Below the converter, the table lists every electric charge unit with its exact definition, and the links open dedicated pages for the most common pairs.

Example

3,000 milliampere-hours to coulombs

Value
3,000 mAh
Result
10,800 C

Formula: C = mAh × 3.6

Common use cases

  • Battery and power-bank capacities.
  • Electrochemistry and electroplating.
  • Electrostatics problems.

About electric charge units

The coulomb is the SI unit of electric charge: the charge moved by a current of one ampere in one second. An ampere-hour is one amp for an hour, 3,600 C, and a milliampere-hour is 3.6 C.

Battery capacity in mAh is a charge, not an energy. To compare batteries with different voltages, use energy: Wh = Ah × V. A 3,000 mAh phone battery at 3.85 V stores about 11.6 Wh, while a 3,000 mAh pack at 12 V stores 36 Wh.

Limitations

  • Results are rounded for display only; the calculation keeps full precision (15 significant digits).

Frequently asked questions

How many coulombs is 1 mAh?

3.6 C (0.001 A × 3,600 s).

Can I convert mAh to Wh here?

Not directly — it needs the battery voltage. Multiply Ah by volts: 5 Ah × 3.7 V = 18.5 Wh.

How many mAh are in an Ah?

1,000 mAh.

Are these electric charge conversions exact?

Each unit is defined from its official definition (for example 1 inch = 2.54 cm exactly). Results are calculated in double precision and only rounded to the decimal places you choose when shown.
