Frequency Converter

Convert Hz, kHz, MHz, GHz and rpm for radio, audio, processors and rotating machinery.

How to use this tool

Steps for using the Unit Converter.

  1. Type a number into From — megahertz are preselected. Commas and scientific notation such as 2.5e3 are accepted.
  2. Pick the units to convert between; the result in kilohertz (or whichever unit you choose) updates as you type. Use the swap button to reverse the conversion.
  3. Set the decimal places, turn on Show formula to see the calculation, and copy or share the result.
  4. Below the converter, the table lists every frequency unit with its exact definition, and the links open dedicated pages for the most common pairs.

Example

2.4 gigahertz to megahertz

Value
2.4 GHz
Result
2,400 MHz

Formula: MHz = GHz × 1000

Common use cases

  • Radio and Wi-Fi frequencies.
  • Audio and sampling rates.
  • Motor and fan speeds in rpm.

About frequency units

The hertz is one cycle per second. Kilohertz, megahertz and gigahertz are powers of 1,000, used for audio, radio, Wi-Fi and processor clock speeds.

Revolutions per minute (rpm) describe rotation: 1 rpm is one turn per minute, 1/60 Hz. Engines, fans, drives and turntables are rated in rpm.

Limitations

  • Results are rounded for display only; the calculation keeps full precision (15 significant digits).

Frequently asked questions

How many Hz is 1 rpm?

1/60 Hz ≈ 0.01667 Hz, so 3,000 rpm = 50 Hz.

How many MHz are in a GHz?

1,000. A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band is 2,400 MHz.

Is frequency the same as angular velocity?

Related but not the same: angular velocity in rad/s is 2π × frequency in Hz.

Are these frequency conversions exact?

Each unit is defined from its official definition (for example 1 inch = 2.54 cm exactly). Results are calculated in double precision and only rounded to the decimal places you choose when shown.
